SERRAMIX blend

ATTENTION: PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR WEIGHTS THE WAITING TIME IS APPROXIMATELY 10 WORKING DAYS FROM RECEIPT OF PAYMENT TO ENSURE THE FRESHNESS AND QUALITY OF THE PRODUCT.

COMPOSITION: buckwheat, Alexandrian clover, Resupinate clover, Phacelia, Horseradish, Rucola sativa.

Fast growing green manure (30 - 45 days) with fast soil coverage for effective weed control, therefore excellent for preparing soil for vegetable gardens, exceptional for greenhouses. It exerts a biofumigant and nematocidal action due to the presence of biologically active elements capable of fighting or eliminating nematodes, fungi or other pathogens contained in the soil.
It is ideal for short coverings, especially in greenhouses for rapid development even during the summer period with high temperatures.
Good supply of organic substance and nitrogen (C/N = 20). It promotes soil restructuring thanks also to the green mass produced which in equivalent dry substance is equal to 6 tonnes per hectare.
Buckwheat and phacelia are long-flowering honey plants. horseradish and rocket act as trap plants by attracting and concentrating nematodes in the superficial layers of the soil, so that they can be reached more effectively by the biofumigant action even in soils with a high level of infestation.
Sowing: Bury the seed superficially (a few millimetres) and water. Emergency irrigation is recommended to stimulate green mass production.
In the open field it is sown from the end of March/April to September and in southern Italy also in the winter period. In greenhouses we sow all year round.
After about thirty/forty days from sowing it is ready to be sown. For greater action on the soil it is advisable to chop the buckwheat after about three weeks (when it is half flowering) to give space to the other essences. After another three weeks, chop and compost everything.
Sowing in the warmer seasons involves a significant increase in the concentration of glucosinolates (and therefore a more effective biofumigant action) which compensates for the reduction in green biomass.
Landing: To obtain an effective biofumigant action it is necessary to finely chop the green manure and bury it quickly as the release of the volatile substances of the glucosinolate degradation products (isothiocyanates, nitriles, etc.) begins immediately, reaching a peak in the first 12 hours and running out in the within 48 hours. Consequently, it is important to minimize the dispersion of biofumigant compounds by quickly burying freshly cut plants.
The temperature accelerates the reaction rate. It is therefore not recommended to chop and bury during the hottest hours, especially in summer.
