WHO IS THAT CHILD

The birth and childhood of Jesus constitute a great mystery , woven into an even greater and more important one for the entire evolution of man and the Earth: the event of Christ.

In the Gospels we find only brief references to Jesus' childhood and they concern first of all the nativity; hints that were then transposed into art in infinite representations and contributed to giving us the Christmas atmosphere that we know so well. But by carefully reading the Gospel stories we can see how these are often discordant with each other in what they tell us: for example in the two genealogies we find lists of different names.

At the beginning of the 20th century Rudolf Steiner helped shed light on this event, revealing to us one of the greatest secrets in the history of humanity : the Gospels of Matthew and Luke tell the story of the birth of two different children Jesus.

Several years later the Dead Sea Scrolls will reveal to us that the Essenes also awaited the coming of two Messiahs. But it is above all in art that we find with great amazement various references and traces of this mystery.

Who is the child often depicted next to the baby Jesus? What did ancient wisdom suggest to the sensitivity of artists? What do the apparent discrepancies in the evangelists' versions hide? Tile after tile , a grandiose and in itself coherent mosaic appears which speaks to the hearts and minds of men, revealing the mystery of the two children Jesus .
