Energy and Future The opportunities of decline - Mirco Rossi
Dettagli
Fossil fuels and uranium are present in finite quantities on earth. The reserves, although still abundant and partly unknown, are becoming thinner due to continuous withdrawal. Renewable sources are practically inexhaustible but it is unlikely that they can match the performance capabilities offered by fossil fuels and uranium and maintain consumption at comparable levels to the current ones considering that, beyond what we perceive through bills, any artificial object is the definitive "grave" of a certain quantity (sometimes very large) of oil, coal, gas or electricity. The extreme criticality of the availability of non-renewable primary energy is therefore highlighted. For us, for our children and for future generations. If the energy sources we know and use were so abundant that they could be taken in quantities and for indefinite times, we could limit ourselves to controlling the consequences of their use...
