QUASSIO WOOD
Dettagli
Characteristics
The effectiveness of quassium wood has been demonstrated over the decades; before the advent of synthetic products, it was widely used in crop protection against aphids. The bitter compounds it contains (quassin) make the foliage unappealing to all species of pests. Among foliar treatments, it is certainly among the most respectful of the biological balance (it does not harm pollinators and many other beneficial insects). When used correctly (long maceration in water and even application to the leaf), it provides excellent results. It is successfully used on pre-flowering pear crops against sawflies.
DOSAGE: 400-600 g/hl
PREPARATION OF QUASSIO WOOD HERBAL TEA
Add 200 g of quassia wood powder to 10 liters of water with a pH below 7; citric acid or vinegar can be used to acidify the water, and the pH can be checked with litmus paper. Let the wood soak in water for 24 hours, then boil for an hour. Once the liquid has cooled, dilute it with water 1:7 and, if possible, stir for 20 minutes. 100 g/hl of Marseille soap or potassium silicate can be added to increase the product's adhesiveness. The treated quassia wood should then be sprayed finely on the leaves in the evening and early morning. It is effective against various types of insects: Diptera (flies and mosquitoes), Hemiptera (aphids, scale insects, bedbugs, etc.), Hymenoptera (ants, sawflies), and thrips.
