THE HEAVEN OF THE GODS - ELISABETH VREEDE
Dettagli
After studying mathematics, astronomy, philosophy, and Sanskrit at Leiden University, Elisabeth Vreede became a mathematics teacher in a high school. His meeting with Rudolf Steiner in 1903 will be decisive. In fact, she dedicated the rest of her life to the anthroposophical movement. In 1923, she was appointed head of the Mathematics and Astronomy Section at the free university of spiritual science of the Goetheanum.
The starry sky has always fascinated human beings. The phases of the Moon, the rhythmic dance of the planets, the jets of shooting stars, the waltz of the zodiac were part of the life of our ancestors, who saw the stars as the home of the gods.
With Copernicus, Galileo, Newton, the universe was emptied of any spiritual content, to become a prodigious but lifeless mechanism. And yet, anyone can perceive it as soon as they raise their eyes towards the firmament, the stars hide the enigma of our origins and our destiny.
By learning to observe and understand the sky as Elisabeth Vreede invites us, we come to feel how to reconnect to the forces that act in the cosmos. Avoiding the trap of astrological superstitions, as well as, equally, the trap of reductive materialist theories, she guides us, thanks to anthroposophy, towards a broadening of scientific vision and, above all, towards a love full of respect for the Earth and the Cosmos .
The best text ever published in Italy on astronomy which reveals the links, evident in the sky, between the physical world and the spiritual world.
