Description

Michel Odent , pioneer of natural childbirth, highlights the profound physiological analogies underlying three fundamental life processes: birth, breastfeeding and mating. Processes regulated by the same cocktail of hormones and which, if experienced consciously and in optimal conditions, constitute an ecstatic experience of profound transformation.

As we continue reading, what the author means by the science of love, cocktail of love hormones, orgasmogenic cocktail, ejection reflex, milky way, genital scale, transcendent ecstatic state, hard wired, emerges more and more. It becomes more and more exciting to follow the thread of the discussion, which is at the same time impeccable, acute and 'transgressive'.

Michel Odent gives us a hymn to joy, pleasure and the desire to live. As an incurable visionary, he offers us the keys to building a better future in the fullest sense of the term, starting right here and now with concrete actions aimed at facilitating the flow of the orgasmogenic cocktail.

Studying the functions of orgasms in the era of the scientificization of love will inevitably lead the author to mention recent technical advances, which are making love hormones superfluous. For example, cesarean section has become an easier, faster and safer operation than ever.

We also have at our disposal safe and effective pharmacological substitutes for the hormones that the woman is programmed to secrete during childbirth. For these reasons, humanity finds itself in an unprecedented situation. Until recently, despite all cultures profoundly disturbing the physiological processes of birth, a woman was forced to rely on the release of a complex cocktail of hormones if she wanted to have a child.

Michel Odent - Photo author
Michel Odent Surgeon and obstetrician, known internationally for having introduced, since the 1960s, the tub for relaxation during childbirth and the delivery room modeled on a domestic. With six midwives he was responsible for around a thousand births a year, with a very low number of interventions. Odent is considered a pioneer in his field and a rigorous scientist. For decades he has studied and observed the physiology of childbirth, in this area investigating the differences between the human brain and that of other mammals. This is where many of his innovative theses originate, for example on oxytocin and the hormones that are unleashed during childbirth. After 23 years spent as head of surgery in the small French hospital of Pithiviers, he founded the Primal Health Research Center in London in 1985, specializing in the study of the long-term effects on health of birth methods and the first moments of a newborn's life and his interaction with his mother. Today, he combines his activity as a doctor and researcher with that of a teacher in numerous conferences and seminars around the world. He is the author of approximately 50 scientific articles and 11 books, published in 21 languages.
