A minute's drive from the town of Arquata and the Valle Scrivia tormented by "progress", opens up the still uncontaminated area of ​​hills that announce the Apennines.
Here you will find Anna Rivera's Agriturismo Lo Casale, surrounded by greenery, in a climate that feels the sea air: there is always a breath of fresh air even in the height of summer.
In June and July the evenings are dotted with thousands of fireflies and the bees collect delicious honey throughout the good season, demonstrating that the pollution of the plain does not reach. Anna arrived here after many experiences, the most important of which concerned natural nutrition.
She was the owner of the Herbalist's shop in Piazza Duomo in Alessandria for 10 years.
Subsequently, for 7 years he managed the Torteria, a small delicatessen in the center of Alessandria, where he cooked using exclusively ingredients of certain biodynamic origins.
Anna also has thirty years of experience in harvesting and cooking with spontaneous food plants that entirely occupy the spring menus depending on the precise moment of the season; he claims to make the menu while looking out the large window of his kitchen.
There is another passion that is kept alive in the farmhouse with constant research, the local cuisine with traditional dishes which, in this area, is intertwined with the Ligurian one.
These are the two strands that animate these pages, together with a third, a recent but promising discovery, the use of honey in cooking. The desire to amaze with unusual menus is still great and the desire to spread and pass on the ancient "wisdom" about herbs, which is being lost, becomes a new proposal for days dedicated to recognition, harvesting, cooking and tasting open to all.
