Dettagli

KENNEBEC

Historic white-fleshed variety of American origin, selected since the 1940s, specifically in the USDA (United States Department of Agriculture). It arrived in Italy through the Marshall plan, revolutionizing Italian potato cultivation. After having been the most cultivated variety in our country for decades, it nowadays maintains primary importance in the hobby/non-professional sector. It is mainly indicated for the preparation of gnocchi, mashed potatoes and fried potatoes. It adapts to almost all types of agricultural land. Due to the rather vigorous foliage system, reduce the amount of standard nitrogen. Distribute approximately 150 kg/ha of nitrogen dividing it between planting (50%) and earthing (50%). Avoid planting too wide along the row, high risk of flowering. Despite some resistance against downy mildew, carry out a preventive control plan against the disease. It may give a lower yield if treated with Metribuzin-based products. Be careful when harvesting as it is sensitive to browning of the pulp, so avoid mechanical damage and reduce fall heights. It also lends itself well to long-term storage. Drought resistant, in our areas it adapts mainly to the mountains.
