Dettagli

In this conference Jacques Lusseyran analyzes something that worries him greatly: the moral and spiritual degradation that overwhelms material progress everywhere.

AUTHOR:
Jacques Lusseyran (1924-1971) was born in Paris where he completed his studies.
At the age of eight he lost his sight following an injury.
During the war he participated in the Resistance, was arrested by the Gestapo and interned in Buchenwald. Teacher of French literature in various universities in France and the United States, he left numerous writings including: Et la lumière fut (1953), Silenece des hommes (1954), Ce que l'on voit sans les yeux (1958), Douce. trop douce Amérique (1968), L'aveugle dans la société (1970), and Contre la pollution du moi, released posthumously in 1972.

Simone Rihouet-Coroze, who directed Triades for years, wrote: “The accident that deprived him of his sight marked him for an exceptional destiny. That child would have become a man of value, not comparable however to what total blindness made him become. Lusseyran is a painter of inner light ”.

Lusseyran himself, describing his own situation, stated: «The world had not suddenly slipped away from me, on the contrary I held onto it more tightly than I was capable of holding before. My eyes hadn't closed, they had rolled back . Now I looked at the world from the inside."
