Origin: Central America South-West Asia

CLIMATE: optimal for growth 25-30°C - minimum 15°C - long photoperiod - sunny exposure.

SOWING: crescent moon - you can either sow in a row, i.e. 2-3 seeds in a small hole, or sow in a continuous row, both in the first and second case after birth, 20-30 days from sowing, proceed when thinning, leaving two plants per square meter.

BIOINFORM Species with invasive plant, creeping stem, monoecious, large unisexual flowers, separate male (larger) and female flowers but on the same plant. The secondary roots are very branched and superficial therefore it requires good irrigation. Grown in dry conditions, it has smaller fruits and tends to get sick. Plant subject to powdery mildew that can be easily combated with native sulfur-based treatments authorized in organic farming. The ripening of the fruits occurs continuously and is conditioned by irrigation, the more water the more fruits. Older plants tend to get sick, therefore gradual sowing is recommended, repeated over time, so as to always have young plants.
